Gently on the shelf

I think I’m just a dumbass when it comes to girls. But I mean. I got out what I wanted to, didn’t I? I didn’t really tell any lies, and I didn’t become super depressed in the resulting period… If anything I feel more powerful than before!
Except for the whole FUCKING PNEUMONIA THING. FUCK.
And in my defense, NONE OF YOU HELPED. Haha. If anything, you all made it worse!!!!
J/k. I can’t blame that kind of stuff on anyone but myself. MY BAD, GUYS.

You know, I just figured after this weekend that I would be LESS sexually frustrated, but instead, I am more!
But my confidence has still shot up and I am getting looks from girls like crazy! FTW
I think I’m too easily discouraged sometimes.
Anyway, you know what pisses me off?
Or not so much as pisses me off, but seems just too cliche to me… Key changes that go up a whole step! SO BORING. IT’S BEEN DONE BEFORE. It’s not even that powerful sounding! I don’t know why everyone loves this key change so much.

Song writing

I am writing a song that is SO fucking heavy right now. The timing is weird though and I just now figured out the meter.
It starts in 11, which was my original intent. It is a 4-4-3 phrase
BUT THEN it takes that 11 and extends it in this phrase so it is like 20! It is like 4-4-3-4-6
BUT THEN 4-4-3-3-2
It is hopefully going to be part of robot blood. Let’s hope it makes the cut

Music, Pissed off rants, Website

I forgot what I was going to say. Fuck. There are a number of things I’ve been meaning to write about on here lately. Mainly, ballboy and Bumblefoot.
ballboy’s new album, I Worked on the Ships, is good! But it’s not nearly as good as their other stuff. It has a much more mature and diverse/worldly sound, which I suppose is good for them as a band, but notsomuch musically. For example, by turning Disney’s Ice Parade, a song I famously covered on my MySpace, into a ukulele song, I just cannot really appreciate it as much anymore. The biggest problem, and I think this is more as a result of my obsessive listening habits, specifically to ballboy, is that I’ve heard nearly all of these songs before through the podcasts. Versions with only Gordon and his guitar. And sometimes, quite simply, those versions work a hell of a lot better. Most other times, excluding Disney’s Ice Parade, the new arrangements work, even the slightly-Mexican tango feeling bits.
That said, it is nice to hear full versions of each of these songs. I really appreciate the extra verses on Godzilla Vs The Island Of Manhattan (With You and I Somewhere In-Between)… My favorite song on here is A Relatively Famous Victory, and it is great! It really builds up, so much more so than the original acoustic demo version (I guess you’d call it that?)… But it never really goes anywhere! It’s kind of like a more boring version of Muse’s Invincible. I am just waiting to hear that acoustic guitar turn into a distorted electric one, but it never does, and really, how loud/powerful can you be with the same acoustic guitar at the same level the whole song?!
All the new songs are my favorite, probably because I hadn’t heard them before… Regarding Above the Clouds the Sun Is Always Shining, I like the idea of repeating the same lyrics, but I feel the song, again, doesn’t really go anywhere. Whereas with Now You Can Be Good To Yourself At Home on The Royal Theater, it worked perfectly. And I just plain don’t like the melody. Too playful. And the tradeoff with the female vocals. Ergh. No, wait, I take that back. My favorite is Picture Show but it bugs me how abruptly it ends, not unlike that Dream Theater song which drove everyone nuts for the same reason.
Maybe I’ll just talk about Bumblefoot’s new album later.
Also, for the record, our website has been ranting about random subjects for years, but nobody bothers to pay attention to us. But I don’t expect anybody to. But when other people go “HEY I SHOULD MAKE A WEBSITE” and my friends are like “OMFG FTW WANT ME TO WRITE TOO”, it irks me just a bit. Just enough to write a post and fade away into eternity.

I love this website. The only problem is, that there’s not something that keeps me interested for too long. except writing for it. Seriously though, when I check this site and see nothing new, my brain checks out and says “time to look at a real website”. And then I click on the Nowmorefun bookmark. One Time I did it three or four times in a row. I want this site to be really good. It could be even better. I just don’t quite know how yet.

You’re the kind of girl I expect to bust back into my house two minutes after we’ve left each other hanging, but you never do. I come back to your house tomorrow and it’s not as fun, but we keep the possibility open. It’s a continuous cycle of energy, you and I, we power our generation, after all. It’s not fair to trap it all up, unless you unleash it all again, now is it? We shouldn’t stash it together, or should we? Times like these can’t happen often, and maybe I’m too conservative. I’d love to see you again under the same moon with the times we just had already under our belt. But I know that it would get repetitive.

I’ve been through this before and I know you have as well. Speak to me those words, “all isn’t real”. I know you can’t. Goodbye.

N. – “Hi Crumb, Lets get down to it. You know, the dirty nitty.”
C. – “No problem. Thats actually what I am all about when it comes to making music.”
N. – “WHOA WHOA!! Slow down tiger! We aren’t there yet. I was going to ask you about your love life first.”
C. – “Well, you know that Kanye West Just Got arrested and fined for assault of the media?”
N. – “*gulp*”
C. – ” HAHA no no, I won’t do that, I was just noting that it’s pretty strange to me how you guys like to cut into the flesh and bone of our personal lives, thats all. I haven’t dated or anything for years. I kinda like it, there isn’t alot of pressure for me in that area, and I don’t have to pay for dinner!”
N. – “Guys or girls?”
C. – “Are you kidding? Guys smell bad. Girls never do. I like things that smell good. Although sometimes I like the smell of my smelly shorts after a good marching band session, but that has nothing to do with my sexual preference. I still like girls.”
N. – “Whoa, Marching band? At your age? You must be really immature and sheep-like!”
C. – “I am, yes, but at the same time, I am also teaching myself what dedication feels, and more importantly, sounds like”
N. – “Um, and what does dedication sound like?”
C. – “Well, since you won’t ask me, I will. My favorite Albums right now are three fold. Yes, I chopped them down to three. Lightning Bolt – Wonderful Rainbow, Radiohead – In Rainbows, The Mars volta – Deloused in the Comatorium.
N. – “I thought you liked girls! Whats up with the rainbows? I think I’m seeing a pattern!”
C. – “I like the drumming in all three albums, but its the way that the drummers mesh insane drumbeats and well kept timing with catchy, original chord changes. All three albums are completely different, but they share similarities because they all are so well written. Good chord structure, and plenty of GOOD surprises.”
N. – “Ew, like a poopy in your pillow kind of surprise?”
C. – “Yea, well, if the tooth fairy left rainbow poopies that smelled like The QT slushy section, then yes.”
N. – “Loser. Cut it with the rainbows or I’m calling the Gay patrol.”
C. – “I just want to make you gay.”
N. – “…”
C. -”(looks around uncomfortably)”
N. – “I just noticed you put two really shitty bands mixed with the greatest band ever made in your top three. Is there any reason for this? Why don’t you like Kanye west or 50-Cent?”
C. – “I have broad musical taste, and Radiohead just hits the tip of the ice burg when it comes to experimental rock these days. I can listen to Radiohead more often then the other stuff, but its more normal (and pleasing to the ear) than the other two albums.”
N. – “So I can already answer my next question, but we are out of time so I’ll let you do it. Where does your inspiration come from as a writer and performer?”
C. – “Of course, Drum line is the main source of my abstract rhythms, and Boards of Canada influence my electronic music solo projects. I hate heavy rock or metal bands that stand really still during performances, and this influences my stage presence. I currently learning how to play rhythm guitar, and this will stretch me to new heights, I’m almost positive.”
N. – “HIV positive?”
C. – “Good bye”
