You see all these people out there actively trying to convert people into Christianity or any church, all of which are incredibly corrupt and rely on false premises. Why aren’t there groups out there actively, yet unaggressively/reasonably talking to people about faith outside of God? Or about just being good people and not expecting reward?
Just a thought!

Some people feel that having such a vast array of data available so easily at your fingertips will make us stupider. We will no longer have to learn anything, because we can always google it and learn more about it than most would know in a semester-long class in college.
I, however, make the opposite argument. Since we have so much fucking data available to us, you have little to no excuse as to why you don’t know something. If there’s anything you wanted to learn how to do, I’m sure there’s a page on the internet that talks about it extensively.
Just a thought!

Just in the last few minutes I found this article, which is really quite amazing. My favorite part is the discussion, and I really feel like I could talk about this stuff forever.
With all of my friends who have large collections of music, I always ask them how they organize it. I didn’t realize there were so many people out there that do this too. I really feel like this thread should evolve into a message board with just questions and ideas regarding music collections. Specifically, the following topics would be very interesting: Software used to access it (iTunes vs. Windows Media vs. cetera), Proper tagging (use of MusicBrainz? How to handle genres), playlists, capitalization, etc. I am just a huge nerd for all of this kind of stuff.
Speaking of which, I’ve gone about the task of setting up an HTPC situation. For those of you who don’t know, HTPC is an Home Theater PC… But this is an HTMac. Basically, the idea is to have all of your media hooked up to your TV. So, from my TV, ideally, the end product is this:
A computer hooked up to the TV, very easy and quick to turn on.
A remote interface (right now, my iPod Touch)
A nice interface on-screen(XBMC w/Aeon)
Access to streaming services (specifically, YouTube/Netflix/Hulu/Any other new TV sites I’ve discovered recently)
A database of stored movies and TV shows
Now, my particular situation is somewhat unique right now. A lot of other people will just scrap up an old PC and strip it down to what it needs to work. Currently, I’m just using my laptop and an external hard drive, which I have to lug over to my TV every time I want to use them, but it really does seem a lot better than just watching them on my laptop’s screen. Soon though, I’m looking to purchase an old MacMini and a 1 TB NAS drive. The NAS drive would allow me to access all of these movies and TV shows wirelessly, but I’m not really exactly clear on how all of that works.
One feature I really want, that doesn’t seem readily available, is a shuffle feature for TV shows. I don’t have cable right now, but I do have a fair amount of TV show DVDs. I have a few episodes on my computer so far, and I’d like just to be able to put them on shuffle, as if I had a TV station composed entirely of shows that I love with no commercials. That really seems like the ultimate HTPC situation.
I also seem to be one of the few XBMC users who wants to store deleted scenes from DVDs and TV shows, and have them link up with the movies/TV episodes themselves. I’ve finally figured it out a solution, but it’s not exactly satisfactory. Right now though, it’s only a matter of ripping everything to my external hard drive
Coming soon: Piracy is in the news, and I want to defend the pirates. But not in some stupid way like Cory Doctorow. His point seems to be that “the industry” are restricting the user’s copying of data to very specific ways, which really don’t make a lot of sense, and I completely agree with this. My beef with Cory is that he doesn’t seem to come right out and go “Fuck you guys, stealing is so awesome and convenient that everyone should do it,” but posts a lot of articles suggesting things like “Suing pirates seems wrong” and “Shutting down torrent sites seems wrong.” He seems to avoid the idea that this is stealing, and that these sites have a bunch of movies/music that people are downloading for free to circumvent any sort of payment system.
But maybe I’ve simply misinterpreted something here or there. I’m not posting all of my opinions yet because I’d like to do a bit more research first…
Also, check out this site for healthcare: Top 10 facts to know about health care reform… There are a lot of uninformed/misinformed people out there with strong opinions, so here’s a neutral source with good information. Please read this if you’re going to speak out about these issues. You’d be amazed at how many vehemently angry people are just completely wrong because some stupid fucking chain e-mail got to them first.
Wow. This has become like an actual blog again, and I’m acting like people read this. WEIRD.

Hello, I’m on a mac, and I’d like to preach about how fucking awesome macs are, and how retarded all of you people out there who are arguing with me/other mac users. Well, let me start off with the ads I’ve been seeing on television. The PC ads I’ve seen most recently will show Microsoft giving a customer a thousand dollars or something to go find a laptop. The user will go over to the macs and go “This is too expensive. I feel like you’re just paying for the brand.” Now I admit that this is true. But. That is EXACTLY THE FUCKING POINT. YOU ARE PAYING FOR THE BRAND THAT IS ASSOCIATED WITH QUALITY. Anyway, they eventually buy the PC and they’re like “Yep, found it!” or whatever. First of all, OF COURSE THEY’RE GOING TO PICK THE PC. THERE’S 50 DIFFERENT BRANDS OF PCS OUT THERE. WHICH IS NOT NECESSARILY A GREAT THING BY THE WAY. BUT OF COURSE, IF MICROSOFT GIVES THEM THE MONEY, THEY’RE NOT GOING TO PICK THE 1 OUT OF 50 LAPTOPS WHICH IS NOT A PC. This is the end of the advertisement. Now. This is just my interpretation, but what does it say to you that they don’t, for a second, talk about the quality? That they completely ignore the customer who has already used a PC. 6 months down the road, I guarantee you, that that guy/girl from the commercial has, a number of times, been PISSED at his computer. That said, they did have a series of ads of people who have used PCs for a long time. The one where they went “I’m a PC,” and showed everyone doing various things. OF COURSE YOU’RE A FUCKING PC. THEY STILL OWN MOST OF THE MARKET. THEY’RE STILL POPULAR. THAT DOESN’T MEAN THEY’RE GOOD. AND ALSO NOTICE THAT, AGAIN, SOMEHOW, THEY MANAGED TO FAIL TO MENTION THE QUALITY OF COMPUTERS VERSUS THAT ON MACS, WHEREAS, THAT’S ALL THE MAC COMMERCIALS TALK ABOUT BECAUSE THEY KNOW THAT MACS ARE FUCKING BETTER!
That said, the Apple ads are a little bit hard-hitting and not always accurate, but you know what fucking rocks about macs? They last FOREVER. People argue about viruses being available for the mac. Every few months you’ll see a story in the media about how a mac virus got out. Mostly these articles are published by the uneducated. A virus is a program that you give no access to, which invades and repopulates on your system for nefarious purposes. What all of these articles are referring to is a Trojan. Condom jokes aside/completely ignored, they are files which act as the Trojan Horse did. They can infect your system and fuck around, but only because you downloaded them, and you opened up the installer and let them free. This can be true on any operating system.
One of the main reasons that viruses don’t run on macs is because there’s not a whole bunch of backround programs open at any given time. I mean, there’s the standard stuff, but you can see EXACTLY which applications are open, whereas on a PC, that information is not readily available.
The other main reason is that nobody writes viruses for the mac. Not as many people use macs, so why bother? But the fact is that I don’t have to worry about them.
I also don’t have to worry about Adware/spyware/malware. It just simply doesn’t exist. And I know that the argument out there: “Well, you only get that stuff if you don’t protect yourself, and you roam the internet freely and carelessly.” Uh. Yeah. But that’s what I want to do. What if I want to go to a shit load of shady websites without fucking up my computer? I want to be able to roam the internet carelessly, LIKE I’M DOING RIGHT NOW ON A FUCKING MAC.
The other thing about macs that are better: Crash-proof. I’m not saying they don’t crash, or that my computer doesn’t freeze up in terms of loading times, but we don’t have a blue screen of death. Nearly all frozen processes can be force-quitted because Apple has a system design which allows for all applications to run independently of each other. That is, if Firefox crashes, the rest of the system is not going down with it. On Windows, if one thing crashes, you might as well just restart.
So, in terms of operating systems, you have Windows, Mac, Linux, or other. A lot of people might argue for Linux as well. It’s an open-source operating system that is pretty secure. I might argue for Linux too, IF I DIDN’T HAVE A JOB AND WERE NOT GOING TO SCHOOL. You see, I could learn a new operating system, and spend hours and hours and hours and days and weeks and months finding software that is close to the equivalent of that on Macs and PCs, but why bother? I’ve got fucking shit to do, and I’m happy with my mac.
The other main argument for PC users is gaming. I can’t lie, PC users have more availablity to games than mac users do. But quite honestly, I don’t want to be the kind of person who spends THAT much time and THAT much money upgrading my computer to do this stuff. I can accept those people who do, but we simply have different priorities. Mine is in music and media and all that. Time and time again, it has been shown that macs are simply better at recording music or making movies.
Now, style. If it’s not clear to you already that Vista (specifically, Luna) and XP and all of that were ripping off Mac OS X, then you’re just dumb. They are. That’s all there is to it. They’re constantly playing catch up with the new mac operating system software.
The majority of people I know who are against macs? People who have PCs all of their lives. These are the people who have never BOTHERED to question their choice. The ones who are REALLY skeptical about macs because they are “so elitist” and “cultured” and “intelligent”. GOD FORBID YOU DO SOMETHING SMART AND GO ON AN OPERATING SYSTEM THAT WAS DESIGNED PRIMARILY FOR THE USER SO THAT NEARLY EVERYTHING IS INTUITIVE. And I can understand that the operating system isn’t as intuitive to some people, but that’s because Windows make you go around and try to trick the fucking system into doing what you want it to do. OR. IT’S BECAUSE THOSE PEOPLE ARE JUST FUCKING DUMB.

I think maybe we should just start booking gigs here in Phoenix. I will find some that you and I can both make in terms of dates. If we get booked, I’ll really quickly record some shit and send it to you, and we’ll basically jam some songs off of that at the show since we won’t really have time to rehearse.
Just to get the ball rolling and play some fun shows. What do you think?

But when it comes to video game soundtracks, that is, specifically the remix/cover ones made by fans, there are TWO things I absolutely hate:
1. Adding vocals to a song with no existing vocals. If it were in a choir version or they were wordless vocals like an a capella thing, that is cool, but adding your own shitty lyrics or some rap? Fuck. That. Talentless. Shit. Why the hell does everyone need to separate the songs with vocals from songs without? Like, I hate when people tag songs as instrumental in the song title or just point it out in general. Instrumental songs are often WAY better than songs without vocals, though certainly not always. I guess it’s annoying when people demand either way. But, regardless, what’s not acceptable is ADDING YOUR OWN SHITTY VOCALS TO A SONG WHICH ORIGINALLY HAD NONE.
2. Sampling the original song. There are two ways I’ve seen this done. The song will start out with the original, and then it will EXPLODE INTO THE NEW SONG. or whatever. But it won’t do it on beat or in a clever way at all. But it just comes with a really strong amount of cheesiness, I feel. The other way I’ve seen it done is playing the original song, and then just laying down some other instrumentation on top of it. How fucking goddamn lazy can you be?
Anyway, coming soon: PSI Rockin’ Omega by Broken Harmonica, the entire soundtrack to Earthbound REDONE.

If I ever die, I want you guys to finish a lot of the unfinished songs on my computer, okay? Maybe like… You each work on one song and make it good and record it so it sounds good. And then dedicate it to me.
And give me partial songwriting credit. And write it like how you think I might.
Here’s how to get there, in terms of directories:
Defenestration -> Music
There’s a bunch of folders. Maybe work on the top few, but if you like something in the jams or riff folders, use those.

But yeah for real he can’t be president-A bit petty, but I really do enjoy the last line… The one here. Still. Calling someone THAT is pretty offensive. I mean. Holy fuck. I’m reluctant to use that on people I don’t like, let alone a woman I love?! That is ridiculous.
Also! GUESS WHO IS IN A RELATIONSHIP FTW
A good one
With someone who really likes me back. It’s almost ridiculous!
Very happy though.
And Mother 3?
